This song was designed to conjure the human emotion of romantic longing, in a non-terrifying way that is palatable for human scenarios like a wedding or playing over the speaker at Dollar General. Unfortunately for me this non-offensive song conjures it's opposite - a feeling of helpless anger, bordering on rage, that increases with every second that I am trapped listening to it while waiting in line. Not only am I subject to an economic system that desacralizes everything, even music, I'm also forced to listen to the horrid, plasticized mimicry of a human emotion as I'm shepherded into the feeding trough. |
