I've sung this as a cover (kind of a mixture of the Otis Redding and this one). One thing always bothered me: What does "drug store loving" mean? It's mentioned dismissively, but I could never really figure out the reference. Best guess: It's a reference to the soda stands in the drug stores of the 1950s and early 60s, being a place that young teenagers would meet and flirt innocently. And this seducer is offering something more adult, i.e. actual sex at his place. |
