My interpretation of it is that ANY sight to the blind would be a sight for sore eye. Being able to see anything would be incredible to them. He compares this person to a dream, something he wishes for to fix his loneliness. The point is that it isn't real. It could be a literal dream, or it could be the singer finding any warm bodied person who will take him and projecting who he wants them to be onto them. Very much a "you love the idea of me" situation. In the end he says "there was never anything there in the first place" reaffirming the fact that the love wasn't real. It was just a means to fill his void. |
