@[sarahofborg2:39806] If you watch The Doors video on YouTube with Scott singing — from around 2000,, You’ll hear that he could mimic Jim Morrison’s voice. It’s actually quite stunning and eye-opening. He could also sing like Bing Crosby, Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, etc. A true mockingbird. |

@[Unglued582:39805] It’s called Atlanta because Weiland was in Atlanta GA at Brendan O’Brien’s Southern Tracks recording studio during the production for Purple. Interstate love song is also on that album and same topic: addiction struggles, relationship breakdown issues, etc. |

I wondered if “how far will you go, just to bait a mouse’ lyric may be referring to the U.S. ‘War on Drugs’ policy. \n\nAnd how it makes the drug supply (cutting drugs) and procurement (eg violence inherent to drug dealers and rough neighborhoods) much more lethal. (Weiland got into some very dangerous situations and robbed several times over the years, trying to score drugs. Kidnapped/robbed in Paris, iirc. :/) |

@[laynestaley4376:39264] The Alcohol and nicotine was SW’s core addiction. He used to sneak into the woods to drink liquor as a kid. He said in later years, drinking alcohol was a trigger that could lead him to get craving cocaine. Then he did heroin to calm down the coke agitation and hallucinations. (It’s in his book.) In later years, it was smoking, alcohol and multiple pills that he mainly did, according to his guitarist Doug Grean. The latter was one of the few sober guys he toured with, apparently. With combining all those chemicals plus alcohol, it’s probably amazing he survived as long as he did. He also had several overdoses. A bad one around 1999. Dr Drew said ‘we almost lost him.’ Using alone can be deadly. ???? |

Scott said there was a celebrity death pool prediction that he would die soon. This was after his 2nd arrest/relapse, iirc. He also had a very bad OD in the late 1990s. (Dr Drew said ‘we almost lost him’.) |

He said in a concert (1990s London’s Brixton Academy) that this song was about being him sexually assaulted. (‘blanked in the blank with a hard blank.’) ???? So the scathing lyric of ‘got a bullet, but it ain’t mine’ makes sense. |
