John Mayer – Last Train Home Lyrics 4 years ago
Sounds like our John is ready to settle! The last train John is referring to is (in my perception) a woman/relationship.
"if you don't want to love me, let me go. I'm running for the last train home". So no more fooling around, it's time for the real deal.
With "I put my heart where it don't belong" it feels like he's talking about relationships and girls that won't last or aren't 'healthy'.
The "and I surrender" is a beautiful way of saying he's ready to 'give into a settlement', because when settling down, you're definitely surrendering on some level.
