The beauty of art, any type of art, is that each song , piece, book, painting etc is the value of communicating an emotion or feeling common to all of humanity. Way back in college I asked a professor , how do I know if a play is any good? And he said "how does it make you feel?" The man was wise beyond anyone I've ever met. |

@[djm60546:38830] yes I read in an interview rush say early in their career they played gigs in basement bars. Man I wish I could have seen those shows, nothing like small intimate venues for concerts. |

@[inpraiseoffolly:38829] interesting analogy because if you've made it home in baseball you've scored a run. It doesn't really matter how you scored, except for individual stats.

@[davidgreer:37922] Neil was a bs artist I hear. A real double speak guy. Brilliant but every song has some hidden meaning and often relating to their use of LSD |

The timeless old attraction
"Everyone has enjoyed getting high as long as humanity has existed"
Lit up like a firefly
"Duh light the pipe and take a hit"
Just to feel the living light |

@[orangebeaker:37913] very possible , also I have read the lyrics point to LSD use and the loss of ego on a bad "trip". In existential philosophy the ego constrains ones behavior and in essence a person has no freedom of choice. On LSD those restraints are removed apparently and it's frightening the first time. I've never done LSD so I don't know how it feels. But society's resistance to any and all drug use is a common refrain in rush lyrics. |

@[maxthedork:37911] I'm not sure what Neil meant by any lyric but subdivisions and the priests of the temple of syrinx are my favorite songs by rush. Subdivisions when I listen reminds me of high school times when we went "downtown" to pick up weed and get high. Hence |
