Grateful Dead – Mission In The Rain Lyrics 4 years ago
@[mbrachman:37745] This is an extremely insightful and thought provoking comment about one of my all time favorite songs, sung by the ultra talented Jerry Garcia Band. I think you painted such an accurate picture of many topics: Garcia’s childhood spent moving around a lot, his view about the let down in the 70s when those very young and idealist hippies sadly realized that all their dreams for building a different and kinder world, were not going to happen over night, and possibly not at all, etc.

To me, one of the saddest lines he sings out of all the many, many different types of songs he sang was this one: “All the things I planned to do I only did half way.” Now that I am mid 50s, I can say that I so relate to that line. I think Garcia had a solid piece of sadness in his soul that he carried around with him until his end. Such a good man. I will miss his influence until the day I die. Thank you for such a great summary!

Jimmy Cliff – Sitting In Limbo Lyrics 4 years ago
Jerry Garcia Band does a truly beautiful version of this song on the Let It Rock album. It was recorded on November 18, 1975. For any fans of JGB who might be reading this one day, the version of “Sitting Here in Limbo” recorded that night is really special!! ????????????☮️????

@[myles18946:37744] I’m listening to Jerry Garcia Band playing the most reverent and beautiful version of Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting Here in Limbo.” Check out this song on the Let It Rock album, recorded November 18,1975. Jerry’s voice and mood in this song make me stop what I’m doing so that I can just listen. And listen… and listen some more. ????
