I believe that the song is about a man who has an epiphany about the absurdity of religon. He has been exploited and used by the priests and evangelists in his religon supposedly "in the name of god", which angers him greatly, and now, as he sees how he has been abused, his oppressors have gained from him and risen in social status, rendering him unable to have his revenge. Thus, he seeks help, only for those he trusted to exploit him as well, to carry out some sort of grudge against the religon, and as he has two sides tugging at him to join them, he finally snaps and takes his own life. |
