Bear McCreary – Gaeta's Lament Lyrics 4 years ago
This song is giving me the heavy tear flow, and hears what I get from it. Gaeta's idealism and his character in general does a good job of representing enduring naivete and optimism in the greatness of living a mundane human life. "She" is an amalgam of all for whom Felix loves or has loved, and the whole of what he believes in inherently human and worth preserving among his very few dwindling fellow humans. The cathartic sadness to the tone adds so much, because you have to watch a notoriously selfless hero come to terms with sacrifices he never imagined he would have to make for a slew of disappointing results and ire to match from his crewmates and perceived family. "She" is clad in the shirt of man, presenting as human, but the true spirit of human desire to exist sleeps. Of course he wishes desperately to stop the unimaginable pain endured by his race, and let her find loving allies that might lead her to prosper. Now as he accepts none of that may ever come to be, he relinquishes his last wish and just begs desperately for that human spark that Felix finds so valuable to reignite.
