| The first part of this song is straight forward. But when it gets to the part when it says, “He bought a postcard on the front it just said heaven,” is where the song gets confusing. Why would he buy a postcard before he even leaves the airport? It sounds like he knew that the plane was going to go down. And why would he send it before he left? It’s like he was going to make the plane go down. And it sounds like he is describing the place he hopes he will go. The things he wants to happen when he goes up. Why else would he buy a postcard that says heaven and write about paradise? He didn’t leave the airport before writing on the postcard, so it was like that is what he wanted his wife to remember. He wanted her to have his last words. | |
