Xiu Xiu – I Luv the Valley OH! Lyrics 4 years ago
@[Drealoth:37372] I like your interpretation! I love what it would mean. I understand and love "I Luv the Valley, OH!" much more than I thought possible now, it's so raw yet complex!!! I forgot how Stewart uses humor (sarcasm), and wordplay in lyrics most of the time.
Lastly, I think the line:

"My behind is a beehive, there's a buzz in my backside
My behind is a beehive and I won't rest "

could means he's a "Busy Bee." As in he's a Busy Bee: someone without time to do anything because they are busy. I believe here he's expressing how he is "busy" obsessively thinking about suicide. The "I won't rest" is about himself worrying about all of it the death/suicide and his life. This is indicated by Stewart using this phrasing a lot throughout the song.

The line:

"I am an orphan de la valley". ("de la" means "of the" in French)

could mean he's someone from the valley like that's his family history (parents/home) and heritage is the Valley now. Like it is declared by him. He is an "orphan of the valley" not his "blood family/origins," so to speak. I think so because orphan means: a child deprived by death of one or usually both parents. Or, one deprived of some protection or advantage. I think the Valley is his self-declared and proclaimed origin, and the way he states this makes it sound like he's happy and proud to be, and won't rest until it is known in stone! this line comes after him screaming "I Love the Valley, OH!" which means he is simply doubling down with " "I am an orphan de la valley" and "I won't rest while you break my will" Is Stewart expressing how strong the emotions around this new found home are. The valley is a place that accepts and loves him,, and is where he belongs, it's everything that he "Luvs" loyally and proudly.

Parenthetical Girls – Stolen Children Lyrics 4 years ago
I interpreted "Stolen Children" to be about a narrator's apology letter to their passed away sibling. It's about resenting a dead loved one (sibling) for being the one who gets the most attention, and using the death to exploit, and being extremely sorrowful to them once you, in hindsight, see everything you did and why clearly. The lyrics here are somewhat off here.
I think the "I'd lie" was literally about the narrator telling lies on/about the person/sibling that died after their death because they were resentful. This makes the rest of the song make the most sense and is quite emotionally complex, beautifully put, and a human TRUTH. The guilty narrator apologizes to a dead sibling for how they handled their death so grossly. Resentment, jealousy causing suicidal ideation, exploitation, survivor's guilt, entitlement, anger, self-centered sadness, contempt, and disrespect, and delusional thoughts they held for so long that were born out of sheer but complex grief. It's such a beautifully (spiritual almost) song!

@[wellok:37370] I think you're 90% correct. The lyrics here are somewhat off though so not your fault. I don't think he/she intentionally meant "they saved my life" as in they would have actually "died" without them there to literally save them. I just don't think they meant to convey an actual life or death situation. I think they meant that the lying on someone (dead sibling) for years to feel good as way of dealing with the grief. The song states in the correct verse:
Could I offer up the years I spent resenting you
For the nine years of my life that went away with you?
On the ground above you, I’d lie????????‍♂️
So solemnly contrite
And I could finally forgive you
For every time you saved my life
We may have both come unwanted
But you were all that she wanted
Most of the time
I think the "I'd lie" was literally about the narrator telling lies on/about the person/sibling that died after their death because they were resentful. This makes the rest of the song make most sense, and is quite complex, beautifully put, and TRUE. I"stolen Children" being about a sorrowful guilty narrator apologizing to a dead loved one (sibling) for their resentment, jealousy and deludedness they held for so long that born out of sheer grief. It's such a beautiful song!
