Failure – Another Space Song Lyrics 4 years ago
This song has its roots in the film “fantastic planet” by Rene Laloux which Ken and Greg watched while working on the album. I think it refers metaphorically somewhat to meditative travel the Traags make to the fantastic planet to mate while also being a thinly veiled reference to the self isolation of heroin addiction. It’s awfully romantic “patient time will carry me on her back without a sigh” and “my soul is celestial bound” for the addiction while also being mournful and lonely. Such beauty amid ugliness. Having experienced personally opioid addiction, it’s eerily familiar.

Failure – Come Crashing Lyrics 4 years ago
This was the First new song that failure put out after they’re 18 your hiatus. It seems like sort of a whimsical note written by Ken and Greg to themselves, Looking back on the past of the band, why it fell apart and acknowledging the role that drugs played in their earlier history. It seems like they are telling themselves that they have to find whatever it was that made them great and hang onto that, and not to obsess too much about what they’re doing but just trust their instincts as they make new music. Part of it is also that they are noticing that the atmosphere in the music industry has changed drastically since they were making records in the 90s and that factors into. I doubt this is actually what this song meant to them, but this is definitely the vibe that I read into it.
