Love Beck's breakup album "Sea Change", it's his best album in my opinion, just filled with beautiful imagery and feels like melancholy and isolation.

Beck – Already Dead Lyrics 4 years ago
This is definitely one of if not best of Beck's albums. It has so much meaning to it, and the verses are simply beautiful, Beck's amazing lyric skills at its peak potential.

At the beginning it describes how much this girl means to Beck, and how her image remains in his head as happy memories and good times although she hurt him, he stills remembers those times as the best of his life and he feels them drift away from him like sand escaping his hands.

Beautiful imagery throughout the song, he finds himself desperately holding onto these joyful memories and realizes he has nothing without her and things are completely different, the mood of this narrative has completely changed when he thinks about the present times.

I believe the line "Already dead to me now, 'cause I feel like I'm watching someone dying", is a reference to the love between him and his ex girlfriend slowly withering and drying out until nothing is left of it and he is forced to move on with his life and perhaps the main reason why he doesn't want to move on is because he feels like if he does move on he will be forced to forget those good memories and will never experience such joy again.

Beck – The Golden Age Lyrics 4 years ago
I heard that that Sea Change was a breakup album after his long-term girlfriend was cheating on him. I feel like this whole album reflects on Beck's feelings of isolation and pain during the breakup, the pains of trying to move on defines this album. The imagery is amazing, I can just imagine Beck driving his pain away and letting the wind "cool his aching head", presumably full of negative and painful thoughts. The line "These days I barely get by, I don't even try", gets to me the most, it's like trying to let go of all the pain yet you are still conscience of it existing, sometimes you don't even feel like trying you want to lie down and watch the world drift by as you are heartbroken. That's what I got from it anyways.
