I think it’s about falling in love with someone but being afraid of starting a new relationship for fear of getting hurt, of being lied to, of investing a lot of time, energy and feelings into it and find out later it was all for nothing (obviously after being deeply hurt and maybe even multiple times). At a time after having my heart crushed once too many I feared getting my hopes up again because I felt I had barely made it through the last time my heart was hurt and I wasn’t sure if I could take it anymore. When I met someone some time later that song really seemed to me like my own feelings where in it. |
