Look at my meaning of "Again and Again." This is no different. Dave has been taking us along on his journey with his own mind since the beginning. Sometimes he makes it obvious (Rhyme & Reason, Too High, etc) but most of the time he doesn't. People have been making whoopie to Dave's tales of he and his ego for 30 years now. Do you ever hear a lyric in one of his songs that just doesn't make sense? Now it should. It's beyond beautiful. |

A freakishly amount of Dave's songs come across as songs about a relationship between Dave and his lover, but what most do not realize is that this lover is HIS OWN HEAD!! This song is no exception. The ego envies Dave, "where you go, I'll follow" "you bleed, you get to smell the scent of perfume", I see the light, in your eyes, shine, shine." Dave takes the journey and struggle of mindful breathing and turns it into a tragic love story. "Breathe in and out, here we go, over and again and again." The ego wants to give the same "love" to Dave, but he can't help but hurt him with this poison sting" The relationship is beyond toxic. "Just to kiss your mouth, wanna turn you inside out." How else could your own head kiss your own mouth? ???? The ego and Dave keep going back for more, and will forever. " The ego promises him "in the end, we will be"... just bear with me and breathe in and out some more". The whole time, the ego smirks while Dave struggles to become centered. Listen to this song, Samurai Cop, Can't Stop, You, Two Step, Drive in Drive Out etc, etc, etc. with this mindset. Its stunningly beautiful, and we can all relate too well. |
