Sufjan Stevens – Fourth of July Lyrics 4 years ago
For me personally this song is about endings in general. Grieving over the loss of someone real or imagined. I met someone on the fourth of of July and it would change my life forever. The good times in that relationship lasted about as long as the fireworks on Independence day. Actually it should've never been a relationship at all. My love was his supply and I guess we both depended on eachother in a sick sort of way. When it was finally over I was a shell of my former self. It was the death of me, in a way. I'll never be the same. He taught me some important lessons.

@[right2interpret:37883]: I agree, and I think his lack of emotion has to do with using drugs to numb the pain. The song "Ashes To Ashes" has the line "We know Major Tom's a junkie"...

Don Henley – The End of the Innocence Lyrics 4 years ago
Hearing this song never fails to make me cry. There is a childlike part of us that trusts and loves unconditionally. At some point that child inside dies. It dies from neglect. We go outside of ourselves looking for love and the Mommy and the Daddy that we never had. At some point, we realize that "Happily Ever After" doesn't exist and the unfair truth of the matter is that we have to learn how to parent ourselves and undo all of the damage that was done to us (unintentionally or not) We fall in love with a fantasy, a person who wears a mask. When that mask slips, at first we pretend that we don't see it, or we think it's our fault. Much confusion follows until we finally accept the truth. Our love was misplaced and the relationship was a lie. In the end there is no closure, just bittersweet memories and regret. This is the End Of The Innocence and the Beginning of What?? Who knows?

Boy Harsher – Love Lyrics 4 years ago
Love= what you want and what you fear the most. Love= entrapment Love= the chaser and the runner Love= The dark and the light Love= unknowing, unseeing Love= pain Love =a drug to numb the pain. All Love will surely end in sadness The Ending will bring relief until the cycle repeats itself.

Jaymes Young – Moondust Lyrics 4 years ago
For me, this song is about someone who is in love, but is afraid to get close. He's afraid to be vulnerable, afraid to let his feelings be known, because he's afraid of rejection. All he can do is love, from a distance because his fears are greater than his feelings. He watches her, like a star (in the sky) never really knowing her. He has fantasies of being together with her, but that's all that they'll ever be, because he won't act on his feelings. It's safer to live in his own little world, on the moon. Lonely at times... but he doesn't know any other way to survive.

Depeche Mode – See You Lyrics 4 years ago
I'm at a crossroads in a situationship. I've been telling myself that we can still talk, but I don't want to see him again. This song popped randomly into my head this morning. Whenever this happens, I take it as a sign. It's funny, I used to think this was a sex based relationship and I wanted more, but now it seems that every time I see him, I have to touch him! I think I want to see him more often, but I'm feeling rejected by him so I think we're better off as friends (without benefits) but I don't think I can see him anymore. I haven't told him yet, because I feel confused. I love him, but I think we're incompatible, basically. We have a music connection and sometimes I tell him about the messages I get through songs.

ABC – The Look Of Love Lyrics 4 years ago
This song popped into my head this morning. I haven't heard it in years. I think it's about unconventional situationships, or "it's complicated" relationships. For me it's about waiting for someone that you love to choose you, or make some kind of a commitment. It's about feeling like you're the only one who's trying to be understanding, or compromising. It's about loving someone who has a very different way of showing love and has very different needs from you. It's about having to make a head over heart decision, and being heartbroken about it. In the end, feeling hopeless and wondering if you'll ever find anyone who "gets you" or love that's reciprocated in a way that is meaningful to you. I think the song is also trying to say that the look of love is different for everyone and just because your lover doesn't show it in the same way as you do... that doesn't mean that they don't love you.

The Beatles – Martha My Dear Lyrics 4 years ago
This song popped into my head randomly the other day. It was the melody. I never paid much attention to the lyrics, so of course I had to look them up on the internet. For me, I think the message is not to overthink a situation to death. Someone may not be acting the way you want them to, but don't assume that it's because they don't care. Try to relax and enjoy it for what it is, and in the meantime "take a good look around you" Keep your options open and continue to live your life. Noone that's meant for you can be taken away.

The Cars – It's All I Can Do Lyrics 4 years ago
I think that this song is supposed to be about unrequited love, but the guy in the song doesn't love the woman or what she presents to him (really). It's more about what she represents to him. He keeps his renditions of her on the wall. He's in love with his fantasy version of her. He's the one that wants what he can never have. He's in love with Hope. The guy in the song = like me.
