| Sleeper Agent – Get It Daddy Lyrics | 4 years ago |

The first verse seems like it is talking about a mixed bag of good and bad - "tricks and treats" are mixed and there is a sexual connotation too but then "fees and holds" is all negative and evinces frustration - and finances are coming into play. "Buy you a diamond made from coal" seems like it is about that any help with the finances might be actually hard work. So I think "I can't and I won't" is the statement that I can't and won't accept the financial help. The "Pick your posies" could refer to flowers that are given in a courtship/dating and it could also have a sexual connotation as does "ring a rose" - and both ring and rose tie into dating. "Pavlov's pup gotta hit the road" is another rejection of the dating/courtship that has gifts involved but conditioning comes with it - but the singer wants to hit the road and not be conditioned by gifts or flowers or rings The singer "not a baby no more". They want to be independent and stand on their own two feet but then the conditioning comes back. "never far behind / when my daddies corrupting my mind" could be a sugar daddy - the temptation and lure of the gifts continues. "And I'm downright denim clad Pulling teeth from toothy fad" Downright denim clad means down to earth or reliable - pulling the teeth is unzipping or also "pulling teeth" is a metaphor for something that is difficult - and the toothy fad could be the latest sweet smile that is reeling her in - she keeps trying to "hit the road" and not be conditioned by the courtship but it keeps getting to her and it is hard to pull away "Wanna sink my line to a catchy heart" She wants something more long lasting than the relationship she is getting pulled into OR she does really want love even though she wants to be independent "But I'm one step ahead." In the chorus she's "never far behind" but the "one step ahead" bit is her finally getting more into the independence part "I'm sick of drooling every time I hear your bell ring But I open the door when you pull my drawstring. Get it?" She is getting tired of being addicted to the relationship but then on the other hand it is a real addiction. Add to that the baby/daddy connotations do what you will with that! But whether or not it's a game/role playing relationship there is definitely a dichotomy between independence and addiction to the relationship with someone. the Baby/Daddy lines could be just about being independent or dependent and the money/ring/flowers could be about courtship and accepting help and funds or they could just be metaphors for being reliant sexually or emotionally. |
