This is one of my favorite songs by Sting, and favorites, period. Many have pointed out that this is about his conflicted emotions after his father's death. I read his autobiography which covered his childhood until The Police was formed. In it, he described how as a child he discovered his father with another woman, and his anger over this never went away. The affair lasted until the father's death, and if I recall correctly, his mother knew about it and the woman was at the funeral. |
