The song is a ode for a drugs, but it is not cocaine, it is about marijuana (Mary-jane means marijuana). His cocaine is marijuana. He says it so literal that people do not see it. "Narcotic mind from laced Mary-Jane And I called your name (Mary-Jane) My cocaine" And there are way more things which can point to smoking: "Will you release me with a kiss? (lips touching a joint)", "Have I tried to draw the veil ?" (of smoke), Did I fear the consequence? (of using drugs), And I touched your face, Narcotic mind from lazed Mary-Jane (kssing a joint), Dazed by careless words, Cosy in my mind (effect of the weed) They were living in a german student town, and often went to the indierock club there. So many things point to that they are stoners. The clip makes them fly, because they are high. Also were do people often smoke weed? In the park or the balcony (with a lot of plants, which could be a hint). Even the slow movements in the clip can similate the effect of being a bit stoned. And ofcourse the song can also be interpret that it is about love, smart song writers often be a little vague so everyone can put his emotions/view on it. |
