when i first heard this song i didn’t think it was about domestic abuse, i thought it was how society/authority keeps us in line and abuses us like dogs. though it surely could be seen both ways, the lyrics in the outro lead me to believe it’s the former. |

according to him, a song about his third love. assuming she’s the one that most of diary is about as well. in an interview with aaron weiss from mewithoutyou he said that a breakup is what inspired his music back when he joined sunny day, and he didn’t get over it for 8 years. so much of his music is probably about her, whoever she is |
