Blondie – Victor Lyrics 5 years ago
Victor is running away with Annett, leaving Anastassia behind and he doesn't want her to follow. I always thought it was either russian spies/defectors or during the russian revolution.

BTW: My Mum hated this song - called it, "Gripe Music" expecially when I played it LOUD on the old LP

Has close lyrical links to "Touched by your presence dear". Who was the theologian in the band Valentine, or Stein?
I love both songs by the way. In fact there's few Blondie tracks I dislike on any level.

@[NomadMonad:35427] I can see why you think that - but I believe it is a stalker hiding behind predestination theology. "Slipped behind your footsteps for a while, Caught you turn round the block," Fancy that! We bumped into each other again - small world - must be destiny!

Iggy Pop – Candy Lyrics 5 years ago
I agree that it sounds like a hooker and her former boyfriend. However, I think it is either a phone call or a meeting after his release from prison. 20 years, means he did something pretty bad - murdered a pimp/client maybe? I favour the phone call idea because he talks directly to her in the lyrics "its been 20 years, Candy!" and besides, who's he going to call but the girl who has haunted him all his life. She seems to still feel affection for him "hole in my heart for so long". He tells her that she was "so fine"... it was a real girl, not a euphemism for drugs, "beautiful, beautiful girl from the north". He begs, "I can't let you go", but she warns him that she needs a proper boyfriend real "love, not games" - it's not the carefree crazy days of 1970 any more.
