It is about the genocide of Native Americans that took place in the 19th century. According to the Hindu belief about death Astbury says that they need not be afraid, because they will be the air, the nature, and the countryside will sweep away their fears. He uses the moon as a transcendental object to express death and Hindu mysticism about it, and it is a play on words because, together, the wolf and the moon are complete (brother and sister). Duffy's magnificent soil seems to represent the transition to the spirit world, and the psychedelic rain shows that the transition is over, and now they are the rain that falls to wash their bodies. One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. |
