I think this song can be applied in a different way. For me I listened to this song online at school years ago while hiding it. At the time I really considered leaving a current "bestfriend." They would beat me all the time, but I have been hurt worse and it does not effect me. I had to close it off when they took my phone, and never caught the name of the song or the singers. So instead I bet on the song. I promised myself that by the time I found this song, I would have my shit together. Now I sit years later and I have found it. Im determined to get past my problem and move forward in life. For me this song is not about me and my parents, but everyone else I wrongly let into my life. I'm tired of living for others, doing their dirty work, taking care of everything they leave behind, them using me, and disappearing and hurting me back when I need someone else with the most. This song was about starting a new me. For the first time in my life, I stopped being a lap dog, an animal, a silent voice with no sounds. I learned to be a person, I learned to have wants and needs, I learned to do things for myself, I could hit back if I want to when i'm hurt, I can defend myself. I'm still learning who I am, but this song was my bet in life to pull up the hook permanently when I was fishing for life. I found my world for a bet on a song and won that bet. I'm never letting that hook go back into the water. Its better to not catch fish, when they are all poisonous, instead I will dive for a safe one. I'm not sure it will be easy, but I can eventually learn to. |
