| I feel like this is a song about a girl and her friend or lover who died (maybe commited suicide). I get that from the lyrics, but also from the official video for the song. She feels guilty because she wasn't there for him when he needed her. She's having visions of him, but he's gone forever. | |

In my opinion, this is a song about a child being abandonned by her father. Especially with the lines: "Leave me at the altar, Knowing all the things you just escaped" I imagine a man leaving a baby in a church. That's why she hates him, but at the same time, she needs him. She needs a father. I don't know. For me, this song was never about a couple. Maybe its because the theme of a bad father is also present in Daughter's other song, Lifeforms. |
