SelfOptedPariah, I agree with your interpretation. I like the Bible imagery in her phrases, she seems to know the core text, but yes, she's making a point about the misappropriation of religion to justify business wealth, hence the 'hollow' it's all for show. Wonderful song and lyrics, I love this. |

Could also be drug references: 'She's tied off her horse'[, horse might be heroin. Don Van Vliet was dabbling in stuff around then. Mind you, his lyrics were pretty psychedelic even when he was completely straight, which was most of his career. |
