A "Spur Neck" (two words) refers to the protruding rear part of a riding spur. The spur neck terminates at the spur tip, and the spur tip (whether blunted or sharp) is the part that makes contact with the horse. I think the lyrics mention "boot leather flashing and spur necks the size of my thumb" as a poetic (perhaps sly) way to tell us he was literally spurred along as she "rode" him, whatever position he might have been in. Yes, he very well could have "come to some harm." |
