well, Sufjohn did most all of his schooling in Michigan, and this sounds like a kid's take on government or social studies. I like the idea above that it was inspired by a trip to DC to play on the capital steps with his marching band.but if this is the link to "Michigan", the "woman's pleasure" line is confusing to me. If the song is really all just naive "kidthink", things he believed as a younger student, maybe this is just more idealized memories. It certainly does not seem very deep at all compared to his other classics-infused subjects... just my opinion "Stevens attended the Detroit Waldorf School, Petoskey High School and Interlochen Arts Academy, and graduated from Harbor Light Christian School. He then attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan" |
