The Radio Dept. – A Token of Gratitude Lyrics 4 years ago
The song is about a breakup. The narrator is giving someone to their partner as a goodbye gift.

Some reflection about the relationship is done - singing together, provoking different sorts of emotions (perhaps sadness, anger, resentment to due the broken promises)

The narrator loves the other person. Their love was formed quickly, and "easy go" is a cope to keep the other person calm. "Don't let me down" - just take this gift because I appreciate what we had, but it's over now.

The Radio Dept. – We Climb The Wired Fences Lyrics 4 years ago
1st (Easy) Stanza
The narrator is spending time with their partner outside one evening. They're playing kid games, pretending to hide. The narrator mentions pretending twice, so they must be aware of their actions. Spending time together is enjoyable for both of them ("You say you like the dark and your hand in mine", "And “how long before this has to end?”").

2nd (Difficult) Stanza
Health related notes are mentioned twice ("I must be ill", "On self medication ambition fails"). Seems emotionally related.

Perhaps the awareness the narrator has during the evening is dampening the moments.

The narrator's emotions are assumed to be, at best, the simulations of love, which the narrator hasn't released before, and questions if the partner can release them
