| Darkest Hour – An Epitaph Lyrics | 5 years ago |
| I think this song is about their struggles as a new band. The future 5 aligning, is a nod to the new members of the band. They had released their first album the mark of Judas on the soon to be defunct MIA records. The label closed up before being able to promote the album. This song laments the fact they risked everything for a broken promise by the label. The sunset falling on red/black the profit and loss statements for a business are either in the red or black. The wall of dotted lines, is contracts signed, not upheld. Post cards of dust and bones meaning the record label and their first project were essentially dead, which was obviously bad news. I have a couple of things I'm not so sure about, whether epitaph records is being talked about or whether the epitaph was for the dead project. I take this song personally as a way to look at defeat, and how to move past and overcome. I think it's part of the reason why the Mark Henry left the lyrics obscure enough that you could put alternate meanings on it. | |
