Prescient lyrics based on the play on words of a state official's corpse being placed on display so the public can mourn. We are witnessing the decline of western civilization because politicians are lying or deceiving "in state." Mustaine the riffmaster is also a poignant wordsmith and both shine in this song, e.g. the last stanza, or "like a shiny new agenda, birthed from a depraved mind." So the perfect words like "hope and change" are in fact cloaks for pernicious plans spoke a thousand times in thousands of ways but they all come from the same source, exposed in the last stanza: hell. And our world is now deliberately taking one step closer to the grave. Masterpiece of word and song. |

This song is about the divisive and subversive (using false narrative) approach of politicians who want a globalist agenda or a post-American (also a post-nationalistic) world. Demonization of those who resist the false narrative and hesitate to move away from what has made them strong creates segregation and suspicion of those within one's own nation. Creating outrage and animosity toward others creates motivation to vote and engage in activity that supports the agenda of those who want a post-American world (“creeping hate if you resist the false narrative”). However, Dave points out how short-sighted this globalist vision is: if they do not like what is happening now and America is so wrong, what in the world makes them think they will like what is coming next? If there’s a new way, Dave will be the first in line. |

True, AZJusticiar. Additionally, I think there is a contemporary meaning as well in light of the themes within the album. So, the death comes from within the nation through the politicians of that nation. |
