There is a huge lawn she used to play on with her parents in a golf cart. It's Lisa Maria as an adult looking back. She's sad he died so long ago and she was so young. This song just knocked me over when I heard it. It had been a few years of breaking up with someone that i loved very much and always will. He loved me but he chose another. I have always loved him even now 35 years later. You truly do have to find a new world to live in after you have been in true love but didn't get to get married and have children. Pinning away for somebody is the hardest thing. I never loved my husband as much as him. it is not under my control, it is the true sorrow of a grieving heart. The Ghost is always there in the background, haunting. The world goes on but it's a different place, I chose to go forward and not cave in. I told myself I would get over it, but never did. You learn, you deal with it. Love is such a powerful emotion even tho it is never mentioned in the song. It's like the death of a love that will never be......not in this lifetime, So I have lerned to survive. |

I feel it is a child who had to listen to his parent's fight and maybe the mother being physically abused also, just couldn't take it anymore. So he left probably has a teenager. Came back years later to see them again but the father just wouldn't have it and said.......No..........your no son of mine because you left us. I think he has been dating this girl on and off for a while now. They seem intimate, but when he calls it's more about sex, not a future commitment. He just wants to date and be with her. So he is telling her (and himself) that he is not in love and trying to be honest with her not to get her hopes up about marriage. It's not Love, it's a friend with benefits. He cares enough about her to tell her the truth. |
