Mott The Hoople – Hymn for the Dudes Lyrics 5 years ago
This is a deep song. It is somewhat uncharacteristic for Mott the Hoople. This song blasts hypocritical Christians ( sweet instant Christian you are such a sly clown), but its message is that God is alive and well ('N rejoice for the king ain't lost his throne, oh no He's still here, you are not alone).

It is a message of comfort. God is still with us. It is rock n' roll song from the 1970s that is probably directed to the homosexuals (the dudes - who God loves - He loves us all!) of London. It is a message that no matter who we are, that God loves us, cares about us, and that He is there for us, and it's delivered by a Glam band.

It just proves that God can use anyone to send a message to someone in need. Even if you disagree, or even if that is not the intended message (music is subjective), it is still the message that I perceived. It reached me. God used these lyrics to get to me. God is amazing. God is love. God is the giver of all good things.

I love this band. They are and were so underrated. By the way, thanks to Ian Hunter for Cleveland Rocks. That song was the best part of that television show.

Sam Phillips – Signposts Lyrics 5 years ago
This song is about a quest for truth, as in, the way, the truth, and the life. She wants to find it, admire it, relish it, breathe in the beauty of it, and let it permeate, refresh, and nourish her soul. She craves it more than oxygen, and, indeed, it is more important than that.

She found part of it, a glimpse of it, and it was good. She felt the fire burning underneath. But people around her, those that were allegedly seeking that same truth, were smothering her. She couldn't breathe. It wasn't pure, like she expected or needed it to be. She finally found the "signpost" to it.

Through it all, the source of the truth didn't change. Her need for it didn't change. Her quest for it remained, but the people around her left her jaded by their example and their demands upon her. Their expectations were not realistic. They tried to compartmentalize her, to put her in a box, and they didn’t like it when she refused to be controlled. How could she be? The truth compels us to be authentic, to be who we are. So, the quest continues, and although she has felt the fire and found a signpost to it, the fullness of that truth wasn’t where she initially thought it might be.

A couple fixes for the post below: That is "camaraderie" and "addiction."
Sorry. I guess my fingers exceeded the speed limit.

Black Sabbath – Children Of The Sea Lyrics 5 years ago
This song is about the final battle between good and evil. It is told from the demon's point of view. Children of the sea (Atlantis - occult - hidden knowledge) are the forces of evil. Of course, they don't see themselves as evil. They see themselves as the enlightened ones trying to liberate us - Do what thy wilt - as A. Crowley would say.

The song touches on the comrade of the forces, and their stubborn defiance to fight for what they think is right. That's the way evil works. It is always deceptive. No one thinks he or she will ever end up throwing up in the gutter or strung out on heroin. People are just trying to have a good time before they fall into the hell of addition. The rebellious forces know they will be defeated, yet they prepare to make their last stand and go out in a blaze of glory.

In the end, the sky falls down. The sun goes black. The battle ends.in defeat for the children of the sea.

It's got a Book of Revelation vibe to it.
