| Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics | 2 years ago |

This song came out when I was a senior in HS. Every Friday Night my friends and I would go to the local bowling alley for Rock N Bowl from 10-Midnight, it was so fun and felt so free. This song always played towards the end of the night, and I would always ponder the question as I listened to the song: Will anything ever be like this again? Can this keep going forever? Will we ever change? The sad answer is, yeah, we changed, things didn’t stay the same, and those moments won’t ever come again. Just part of life. People move away, relationships change, all that. But whenever I hear the song, I’m taken back to those times and feel the same emotions. It’s a great song! |

| Lifehouse – Sick Cycle Carousel Lyrics | 4 years ago |

From a Christian perspective, this song seems to have to do with the struggle against sinning and how we try to do the “right” things to make up for it only to fall again. The truth of the Gospel is that we can’t do anything of ourselves to earn forgiveness from God for our sins, we will never be righteous enough……but God solved that problem for us by sending his son Jesus to us. Jesus walked the sinless life and became a spotless lamb to be sacrificed once and for all sin. Jesus’ blood covers and washes clean the sins of the world (past, present, future). Salvation is a free gift from God to any who would receive it. It only requires faith in Jesus, that he was who he said he was, and in God, who sent Jesus to us. Nothing more is required. Even the thief on the cross being crucified next to Jesus was able to obtain salvation through faith. Luke 23:39-42 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” The lyrics says “I know that this won’t stop till I step down from this for good”. To me this mean, letting go of trying to earn salvation (following steps, being studious, over humility, doing good works, mental discipline) only to end up exhausted and unsatisfied. But rather step out of the cycle of trying to earn forgiveness and rest in the fact that your sin has already been forgiven because of Jesus Christ. |

| Subseven – Emotion Lyrics | 5 years ago |

Subseven is a Christian band, and as a Christian myself, I interpret this song to being the internal conflict we experience as believers to follow the flesh (our selfish desires) or follow the Spirit (God speaking to our spirits by The Holy Ghost). “Should I just let go - Turn my head say “no” Should I go with flow - Try to take control” God asks us to deny ourselves (just let go, go with the flow of the Spirit leading us) “Would it be alright if I tried to deny the Ghost in my life, I don’t feel so right (not so right)” God gives everyone the free choice to follow His way or our own. As believers when we follow our own way, and live after the flesh, the Spirit convicts our hearts. As we might find satisfaction in the flesh for the moment, there is that little voice in our hearts that convicts us, and then after the flesh is satisfied, there is deep sorrow knowing that we sinned and denied the voice of the Holy Ghost leading us the right way and in doing so have added to the stripes and wounds Jesus Experienced dying on the cross for those sins. “Through darkness or light - You’ll see me though, Instill in me - what I feel in You” God is faithful to forgive us and does not give up on us. This is a prayer asking God to reinforce His presence and guidance in the singers heart and give him strength to follow God. These lyrics I scream - falling down on me These visions and dreams - what’s this I see (in me)? Are you inside my bones - 'cause I feel you strong Everywhere I turn, Omipresent Ghost (you are a ghost) Again, I see this as a prayer with introspection. The Bible teaches us that God is everywhere (Omnipresent), And here I see the song writer saying that wherever he is he feels the presence of God around him. Emotion who are you? The chorus I believe is speaking about introspection and asking what voice it is that he is going to listen to. I love this song. |
