It is pretty likely the numbers refer to keyboards. The SH101 is the Roland SH-101 which was "bigly" used in the House Music scene of the 90s. Prophet Six may/may not be an inside joke about the Prophet 5 analog synthesizer made by Sequential Circuits. There is now a Prophet 6 in existence, but it didn't come to market until 2015. In any event, the SH-101 and the Prophet 5 both made a very big impact on the music makers of the day, and I suspect the lyrics are a sly tip-of-the-hat to the hardware. |
