Personally, far beyond death, this song is about a love that is meant to be doomed, particularly it seems like an unanswered love. The murderer is the one who doesn't love back, while the murdered will be the lover who gives away, although that person knows their love is not corresponded, or will not be corresponded in the future. Verses like "so cruelly you kissed me" help to show this. The kiss was cruel cause at the end, there is no love coming from the other end. To one, it is just a kiss. To the one in love, is a breathing and physical manifestation of the love they are feeling. Besides, there is the general sense that the one in love is aware of the lack of love on the other end, as they know the "killing time" is coming, it is somehow announced. However this is just my interpretation. This song reminds me of somebody I loved, who for years was there and one day said they had never felt anything. The Killing Moon is kissing and being with somebody somehow aware that at the end, they are going to leave. |
