| AURORA – Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) Lyrics | 5 years ago |

I interpret this song as a story of an abusive or obsessive partner killing their love out of anger/jealousy because when she says “I know he knows that he’s killing me for mercy” she doesn’t leave it at the fact that only she knows, instead she expresses that he really believes that. So what I see is that they possibly had an argument or maybe the male partner misread some situation and ended up killing the girl in a brief moment and now he regrets it but maybe he was like an obsessive fan that kills their idol. His thought process could be something like, “If I can’t have her no one can”. Maybe he thinks anyone that isn’t him is in enemy or danger so that he can justify killing her as an act of mercy in his mind. Of course he still has remorse for his actions and acknowledges he made a terrible mistake by pulling the trigger. The ending lines “The gun is gone And so am I And here I go” are exactly as they are no metaphor the guy gets rid of the gun and body, and she passes on to the next life, etc. |
