| Magazine – The Light Pours Out Of Me Lyrics | 5 years ago |
|
For me this song is about the deletion of a person, almost an erasing of the soul. As all energy to illuminate the world is depleted like a battery, he is left in a state of darkness that is a "healthy" state as he no longer is conflicted by what he perceives. As time passes the individual becomes increasingly a being living in darkness, and the more the light leaves him the nearer death he becomes as his life force is drained. He becomes increasingly numb and loses the ability to love as heart beats pumps the bleed out. Devoto despairs that life is draining of him of life itself and this is because he is deeply unhappy with the society in which he lives. |

A common theme in Magazine lyrics for me is the nature of truth, perspective and how are views can be manipulated. The plane crash can be seen as a politicised event where an enemy is identified and the media focusses are attention on their agenda. Even an accident could be seen as an act of war. Cameras are trashed as they no longer shoot the true scenes and actors fool us into adopting mindsets constructed by the powerful. Similarly to Motorcade, Devoto laments the inability for society to see the true nature of the World for it is too easily manipulated by Politics and Media. |

| Magazine – Motorcade Lyrics | 5 years ago |
| I think this song is about how power and politics can manipulate the man in the street. The snake imagery is powerful and brings to mind the hypnosis of rodents before a death strike. The need for first aiding the wider context can be ignored as we are fixed on the man in the middle of the motorcade. We are being programmed by the elites agenda, while the those making the decisions are barely able to make an informed decision as they can just tie their boots. | |
