| Blindside – Sleepwalking Lyrics | 6 years ago |

The lyrics are either purposely vague, or refer to something personal to the lyricist that is left unexplained. So it's a bit of a rorshach test. For me, I see the "many" (Matt 7:13) christians sleepwalking on the broad road that leads to destruction. And God is trying to wake me up, kind of like Keith Green's song "asleep in the light". But even in the light, it's so hard to wake up because I've enveloped myself in darkness and sin and distraction. And then at the end of this life, if I somehow make it to heaven, I'll have to face the judgment seat of Christ where every secret thing I've done is exposed before all who have gone before. And there will be great joy and all, but with it an even greater sobering accountability of how I've hit the snooze button on my destiny. I think the skill and power of the music itself, along with touching this topic that is so important yet rarely talked about, is what really messes with me. |
