| Bob Dylan – I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine Lyrics | 6 years ago |

Quite simply the greatest song by the greatest modern song writer. A song which speaks to personal responsibility for all others. Not purely Christian, in any way. More of a Dostoyevskian sense of : "we are all responsible for each other"!! Not just for our family or friends,,,but for each other, each and every one. A beautifully humane song |

| The Fall – Who Makes the Nazis? Lyrics | 6 years ago |

For me, Smith is warning (as he always does) about generalised, low-level creeping inhumanity. The song is an attack (as always in Smith's songs) on hatred.. 'The Nazis'= the violence of 'Shooting an Elephant', the Orwell story. The mindset which used to underlie European colonialism and now underlies other violences. I put a finger on the weird. |
