@[Lilandra:32612] I know this was 11 years ago but I just felt the need to share my own thoughts about this. As we know, lyrics can be interpreted differently depending on the person, his/her experiences and emotions while listening to the song. So I think there is no right or wrong answer. Artists, well most good ones make music that people can relate to and can interpret however they want. "I could tell a million lies And it would come as no surprise ----for me it means no amount of lies can surprise her anymore as she is used to him making them and expects him to lie most of the time, which could mean she is losing or has lost her trust in him. When the truth is like a stranger Hits you right between the eyes ----for me this means that when she hears a single truth from him it catches her by surprise, and finds it hard to believe what he is saying, because again, it could mean that she doesnt trust him anymore. You know, the lyrics before these were: "I don't wanna fight no more I don't know what we're fighting for When we treat each other, baby Like an act of war" ---he is telling us a story, He is getting tired of all the fights they have, but he has lied so much that the truth "is like a stranger" to her now but it doesn't mean he lies when he says he loves her, "There's a time and a place and a reason And I know I got a love to believe in All I know Got to win this time " He knows there is a reason why he met her and all he knows is that he wants to fight for her and win. So yeah.. that's my opinion, as I can relate to the song based on my experiences. :) |
