My interpretation of the song in general is that a person should be in control of himself; watching the trends, judging the people and systems that run things, inside and out, and concluding in flowing with the streams of harmony and love. Some people been driving to fast Some people still having a gas But if there's one thing you gotta concede You gotta know who's driving your car (Whichever way you go by naturally [full gas, intermediate or anything else] you have to stop and understand which way it is you go by.) You get to sixth gear with your foot on the floor Or else you're starring in "a cruise too far" (If you're not optimized towards being the best you can be, you're just wasting yourself.) Turn on, tune in, and cop out Let it flow now mama Turn on, tune in, and cop out Let it flow become a woman (Turn on your mind and senses, tune in to your inner truth and who you really are and cop out of the rat race/status quo mentality, thus becoming a mature person[woman/man] Some people been wasting their time Some people expanding their minds But if you've known love like the jokers before Then you're likely to be home on the range No more the cowboy gottsa flaunt his wares He's been grazing on a different plain (Wherever you are in life, of you know the power of love, that's what you'd probably strive for. No more cowboy/tough guy bs, but relaxed easy livin) Well, it's easy to see why the thousands of people Are regularly turning it out And it's easy to find when you mess with your mind That you've gone beyond a reasonable doubt, yeah (It's understood why the ones who get it go for it and when you start analyzing and rationalizing you only prove you're lost) |

I think this song is about a woman who's that type of person that just can't get into a relationship and has a tendency to break hearts. First verse: Describes how this lady is very experienced and knows her way between the sheets and a more mature "dirty" world of sex, and her freshest inexperienced "victim" is just hypnotized and caught in her absolute attractiveness. Chorus: first part: Describes how she told him it's not gonna work, but he's just completely oblivious and just acts by pure infatuation. Chorus: second part: Describes her "evil" demeanor in pushing him away afterwards(I would go as far as to say this experienced lady has anxiety issues that always come up at that moment "I can't take this place, I just wanna go where I can get some space"; she's one of those twisted souls that just can't let anyone come too close. Second verse: Literally just elaborates on how she's being this "bitchy" lady. Third verse: I think the lower pitch used in this verse isn't just a harmonic/melodic motif to accompany the c-part, but a verse sung by the male partner(hence lower pitch) being caught in the desire and infatuation, describing his confusion and feelings of desire and infatuation. I find this song to be a brilliant masterpiece. the video is very artistic and beautiful, for which I have my own interpretation as well. |
