Sonata Arctica – What Did You Do In The War, Dad? Lyrics 6 years ago
Mourning can be manifested in the strangest of entities. Following war, if the conditions and situations proved a certain severity, one can’t help but have their life view skewed. And the worse part of it is when that person shows their wavering perspectives onto others... especially ones close to them in loving proximity.

This is the story of pain and death being passed down onto the life and hope of a soldier’s child. Gray eyes look up and lock on to the far gone blindness of the parent. The sun is now a forever falling star. And the ghost replaces what love used to instill in all truly deep families. The ghost is the greatest pain when in view. When it leaves, it’s constantly gone. The ghost is that you now don’t even know who you are.

System of a Down – Roulette Lyrics 6 years ago
In my view, this song focuses on a general empty emotion tied to a lack of connectedness.

In another different, but perfectly appropriate, light, what has been more often said of the meaning (ie. specific and simple emotions and situations that we could all understand) benefits the song at the same time.

Such a “simple-minded” storytelling act as this one plucks the heartstrings of those, too, who are devastatingly in their lonesome. In effect, the song triggers a breathing music that would otherwise be noted as soulless, as vacant.
