Andrew Bird – Roma Fade Lyrics 6 years ago
Listen to Gypsy Moth, on Echolocations: River. Instrumental version, just him outside by a river. Personally I always feel like he's always at his best when it's just him and his violin. Really beautiful.

Andrew Bird – Bellevue Bridge Club Lyrics 6 years ago
And I will hold you hostage
Make you part of my conspiracy
You will be witness to carnage
You know there's no you without me

I like that this is both the beginning and the end of the song.

I read in an interview with AV Club about his concern with people using technology to inflate all the tension that already exists in society. The whole us vs them mentality in politics was always there but now it's a zero sum game where winning is the only thing that matters, ~by any means necessary~

Andrew Bird – Proxy War Lyrics 6 years ago
This one is so good. It's all about how technology has separated us, changed our lives so we don't really have to connect with one another as closely as we once did.

He don't have to get over her
She don't to have get over him
With all their words preserved forevermore
You don't have to get over her
She don't have to get over you
It's true these two have never met before

- Online romance. We can have a relationship over the internet, never meet in person, yet all our words are preserved, since it's all online.

You don't have to remember
We forget what memories are for
Now we store them in the atmosphere

-What's your friend's phone number? What's the capital of Peru? When was the war of 1812? We don't have to remember these kinda things anymore since we can just look it up instantly via our phones.

Andrew Bird – Manifest Lyrics 6 years ago
@[cy:32516].ristoff Absolutely.

For everything that's walked this earth once living
Then to be exhumed and burned to vapor
- CO2 from burning fossil fuels

I'm coming to the edge of a rising ocean
-Rising ocean levels

The lines that really get me though:

I'm coming to the brink of a great disaster
End just has to be near
The earth spins faster, whistles right past you
Whispers death in your ear
Don't pretend you can't hear
-Global warming deniers.

It really is a masterpiece. Favorite off this record.
