well I've been listening to this song for a few years and decided to throw it on repeat and here's my take on it... at the very beginning when he says I missed the taste of a sweeter life I miss the conversation... that can be related to me in the fact that even though I am married it does feel like it's needing to be in a lot more strengthen place in the marriage than what it is at the moment (hopefully it will get there with time)... I'm changing all the stations... this to me sounds like he's trying to change himself to make the other person like them more. I have done this a few times and I can say from experience it just makes you miserable. it doesn't affect the other person whatsoever. they can come or go. it does not keep them especially if the way you are naturally isn't enough to keep them. then, that is on them... I think that we had it all... todd is what everybody thinks when they think everything is going perfectly fine in a relationship or a marriage and the reality of it is it'll never be perfect and you won't have everything you want. we drew a map to a better place but on that road I took a fall... that right there states that they were trying to make it amazing wayne, he ended up making a mistake and he took a fall in the process. the fall could be anything from. they decide to take some time away from each other to they break up... And in the next line it states oh baby why did you run away... this clearly states she left him... in the chorus portion of this song it's stating why she wasn't there when he was at his lowest when he was going through his depression... speaking from experience with depression and people not having my back when I needed it the most it sucks and with that being stated he's trying to find a map that would lead him back to her when all of her maps redirect her back to him. so in the process they are never going to refind each other then and that's a major part of this song they want to get back together. at least he does but he will never find her because the maps he's taking are not taking him to her... The next part when it's states I hear your voice at night. it's hard to resist temptation... that could mean a couple different things the thing that I think it represents is he wants her yet. he's tempted by other females at the same time And along his way he got distracted by other females... this is a very hard thing to deal with considering the fact when you break up with somebody and you want to get back with them, you do what you can to reignite the relationship whether it be just a dating one or a marriage one. and the biggest problem you run into is when you are separated you start seeing other females and looking at them and start thinking what could I have better than what I have right now and that is the biggest thing that is an issue because you want to be faithful to the one you want back. although at the same time you see other females and you get thinking hmm it would be nice to be with her and you then forget you're trying to get back to the one person originally that you fell for and that is what this whole song is based upon. he wants to be with one girl while during their time separate he looks at other females and starts thinking what he could be having over what he had. that's why it's called maps because a map is able to be read and found different ways to the same destination. and along the way you might have little hiccups here and there or detours and that's exactly what this is implying it. he's having a detour in a way to other females on his way back to the one that he wants to be with. |

| this song has a very deep meaning to me... I met a female that was amazing... but she played with my heart and just left me to deal with all the pain... she moved on to a new guy pretty much right after she broke up with her last guy... I helped her while she was struggling with everything, and she just broke my heart and obliterated it... the amount of pain she caused is way worse than when my ex broke up with me... so the lines about moving on way too quick definitely corolates with what she did... and having sex with another guy way too quick... | |

| To me it feels like it's about a person who has fallen for someone... They have tried to change to be more liked by that person. Though they have lost who they are as an individual in life. They are sick and tired of trying to be different just so that person likes them more... The part where he states tired of being what you want me to be... That means they can't amount to what that person wants from them... Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface... The person is only surface deep...They only want materialistic stuff... Don't know what your expecting of me... Unsure of what they want from you... Caught in the under tow... They feel like they can't amount to anything... | |

| I feel that it's about fame but also about relationships in a way because it say my life has changed but fuck the fame... i'll stay the same... you can't complain when you can pay the bills and do your thing... I feel it's saying that in a relationship you are the one that is paying the bills and the other person can't because they can't advance in life... how he says I can't believe the torment that you put me through... it's just reinforcing the fact that the relationship was hell with the person that he was with...that's what I took away from the song | |

| this song is very deep in the way it relates to my own life... where he says all the days gone by and i can’t get them back... it can be in in parallel to how all the stuff i’ve done and how i can’t get back my own self... where it says hey hey you are you living the dream... it’s meaning seeing all the people around you succeeding and you’re stuck in a rut... i’m trying to understand myself trying to fight through this hell... it’s saying that everyone is trying to understand their life but it’s hard...where it says hey hey you have you seen what i’ve seen nothing is clean hey hey you while i’m rolling the dice i’ve paying the price ive been walking on ice... a few years back i had to watch one of my best friends die in my arms because of a car accident and it’s something that i’ll always remember... and that goes back to the part of the all the days gone by and i can’t get them back... it’s something that will always be with you... and there are days that i don’t think the sun will rise meaning that i’ll never forget that day... and the sounds and the look in his eyes as he passed in my arms is something that will always be with me... and how he says no at the end just solidifies that it’ll always be in my head... i’ve tried to work around the hell of that day but it’s always there... | |
