Made an account to post this... When you take into account the live performances of the song (which are totally worth the watch btw) it’s clear what the song is about... The song itself is about that feeling of self-confidence even shy guys have when they are trying to make a girl see the good things about them. From the lyrics we get that he knows the girl very well (knows a lot of specific things about her) and also that it’s the tought of having her by his side that makes him feel confident. What I like the most about this song is the way he “brags” about himself without coming off as douchy “i got the copper tone tan like in Mexico... well, not now... but when i go” “i wear my pants so low it’s like i’m going for a swim” “i get the crowd going when i sing the hokey pokey” and so on... Really cool song about someone self-conscious but confident |
