I will be breaking this song down a little at a time. My interpretation of the song is as follows... "All she's got is the way he looks Many miles on the other side" I don't believe this is to be taken literal, as many people have stated. I believe it is describing most failing relationships and personifies that two people who can be in the same room can also be miles apart. Furthermore I think it also emphasizes that when this begins taking place, communication is almost non existent and we only have "the way she/he looks" due to the emotional secrets we as people begin to create when in these circumstances. "He had overheard her choice And he'd delve off a cliff-side" Going forward, I believe these two lines describe that one of the individuals in the relationship had overheard the others choice to leave them through a medium (text, phonecall, or maybe even through indirect comments". Based on the following lines I would also interpret these lines as being something he/she doesn't think the other will follow through with because this may be an ongoing thing that has been causing each person turmoil for many days now. "Sacrifice he just wants to help Holds the world like a baby" These lines to me are an extension of the previous lines. After he/she overhead the decision/choice the other has made, they decide to make the sacrifice to end their mutual situation with abruptness and in a way that is not emotionally mature. Because of this lack of tact in ending the relationship and no effort being made to try and make things better after overhearing her/his choice, they are perceived to hold the world like a baby (without any consequence). "Takes his mask off and lulls his head Then she sees him in the screen" Because he/she has acted this way in their time of need, she/he has shown the other who they really are when the time was of the most importance. Because of this decision he made for them without an attempt to fix things, she/he has finally seen the other through the screen (barriers or blocks). "They both see the traps No fool, oh no oh They won't go back No fool, oh no oh They've got a mind track No fool, oh no no It's all a mystery Let it come and let it be" The repeated chorus emphasis that she/he is no longer a fool and they wont go back after seeing what they have seen. That they have their mind on a track that excludes the other and making this mistake in the future, and while it is a mystery to them why the other person would make such a careless choice to delve off a cliff-side in a time of need, because they can't understand it they must...
