To me, this reminds me of a situation I found myself in when I was younger. I was in a cold relationship and I used to ‘run’ to this other guy for support, even though we never slept together there was definite chemistry. However when my relationship broke up and I found I was pregnant he changed and didn’t want to know me...so I had to run from him. |

I know that the artist probably did not mean exactly this, but I relate well to the lyrics. The first verse reminds me of my ex husband. I was 4 months pregnant when I found out he’d been sleeping with someone else and I literally was laying in bed next to him wondering what to do (love is forever), feeling lonely. I left him and was determined not to have another ‘deep’ relationship and had a number of more casual relationships until I met this one guy. We had only known each other a few days but one night he came over for dinner and we had a bottle of wine and ended up in bed together, which at the time I just thought was a casual thing (only wanted to stay a while, only wanted to play a while) but the experience was unlike anything I’d experienced before, it was just really intense. I realised I was falling in love and that I’d actually never felt that intense feeling for my ex even though we had been married. This relationship just felt ‘right and strong’
I’m still with him after 12 years and I still feel intense love like I’ve never felt for another lover. |
