A lot of people commenting on this song must be looking at life through rose colored glasses because this isn't a love song, it's a case study in sarcasm about a relationship that's turned bitter..When Ben Orr sings I guess you're just what I needed he means it as the exact opposite .. Example: That's just what i needed is said when people mean that's the last thing they needed to happen to them.. People never say I don't mind you comin' here And wastin' all my time, & mean that either if they didn't mind the person hanging out they wouldn't say wastin all my time..They would just say I don't mind you comin here & leave out the wastin all my time if they weren't being sarcastic.. When he sings I don't mind you comin' here And wastin' all my time, time 'Cause when you're standin' oh so near I kinda lose my mind, yeah. He's not talking about physical attraction, he talking about mental frustration .. All of this is evident with the line "So bleed me " This isn't a love song, it's a song about a guy that;s trying to breakup with his girlfriend.. BTW when Ric Ocasek and The Cars recorded Let The Good Times Roll they weren't singing about partying it up, they were being cynical & speaking sarcastically about the music industry.. |
