To me this song has great meaning although I see it far differently then the rest. My late friend and I last listened to this in his jeep. He later committed suicide. To me this song is about loss of a loved one. The first part of the song "My eyes don't see the oblivious, its way too far to go" I feel that means we don't see the symptoms of your friends depression as you're only living in the moment "Its way to far to go" the future. The verse is getting deeper in the aftermath of the loss and dealing with quilt for not seeing it. Hence seeing fallen angels when you're trying to sleep. The end of the chorus gets into the "silently preparing" is a reference to how you feel they now view you for not being there and dealing with your guilt. Moving further the "You see, I'm kinda paranoid My luck, it seems to have run out So I will point the finger now Beyond the shadow of a doubt" This part gets into being paranoid as to if they wished you helped and the part of guilt where you point your finger at the others who didn't. So this song as a whole I feel is talking about his late friends death and how he failed to see it coming nor could stop it. Living in the moment creates amazing memories but after a loss it blurs the lines and creates guilt. It brings chills to my spine that this was the last song I remember hearing with my friend. |
