Paul Oakenfold – Southern Sun Lyrics 6 years ago
The ambiguity in staying and leaving. It’s a state of being, but life is dynamic and so you let go because life is a endless series of leaving in some form or another. It’s sad because it taps into the possibility of unrequited love & the ambivalence within that of pain in the experience of staying or leaving ties into something so profound as falling deeply for a foreign love.
I challenge the single view of this being a sad depressing song, it’s about pain and leaving, letting go, and endings (death, loss, decay), and that signals within the collective unconscious = growth, so it’s multifaceted and quite uplifting as it transcends sorrow and morphs into the edge of change, there’s beauty in freedom and there’s beauty in feeling, yet we can’t translate & express these feels into words and discourse cause it’s just in us, the ambiguities, it’s born with us from the collective unconscious, yet describing such knowing when it’s a conscious conflicted state is beyond most.
